The Tonibung Renewable Energy Fund is established to sustainably finance micro hydro systems in remote indigenous villages across Malaysia. Under the scheme, villages are able to access capital to purchase their own micro hydro turbines and repay their interest-free loans over a three-year period. This allows capital pool to be regenerated to benefit new villages.

With clean affordable energy, villagers are able to reduce household expenses on fossil fuels, enabling them to spend more on nutrition and health.
