Driving on Sarawak’s rural road, particularly in the central and northern region -ie., Belaga, Baram can be fun but danger-prone. Be extremely cautious as the road can be tricky and no urban driving rules apply here. They have their own rules. Here are few photos to describe what I mean.

The road surface look rather smooth and feel less bumpy. But that’s only during the dry season. Once the rain pour – expect the worst. A trip off this road is a steep ravine. It’s a long way down there – more than a thousand meter or 3280 feet below. None had survive it before.

Sub-urban road of Sarawak.

This road is enroute to Sg. Asap and Koyan the Bakun resettlement area.

This is how the road to Belaga via Jayung mountain from Bintulu.
